Events on the Alley

Tickets are sold out for Chocolate Decadence 2012!

Oklahoma City Historic Automobile Alley cordially invites you to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Chocolate Decadence, one of Oklahoma City’s most anticipated events and Valentine traditions.  Chocolate Decadence 2012 will be held Thursday, February 2 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m., again at 825 N. Broadway, the Hudson-Essex Loft Offices, in one of the coolest venues this City has to offer.  The party showcases decadent chocolate treats from premier local restaurants and caterers while featuring smooth jazz, wine and champagne, gourmet coffees and the ever popular Valentine auction.  Chocolate Decadence has enjoyed sold out crowds for the past several years and the same is expected this year.  Purchase your tickets early so so you don't  miss the most decadent event of the year!

Hosted by Automobile Alley, all proceeds from this year’s party will once again be given back to the neighborhood fondly known as the “front door to downtown.”  In previous years, proceeds from Chocolate Decadence have helped fund projects such as the realignment of the 6th Street “Centennial Gateway,” installation of vintage-style neon signs and façade enhancements, as well as the purchase of fabulous street furniture that set the standard for the rest of Downtown.

“Each year Chocolate Decadence has many repeat guests and new attendees, as exciting events on Broadway such as the Gazette’s Halloween Parade and the spectacular Christmas season lighting continue to draw large crowds. Our guests have come to expect a wonderfully unique evening which is why this event sells out earlier and earlier each year,” said Francy Palmer of RCB Bank of Nichols Hills, co-chair of the event.

This year’s event will feature chocolate delights, both sweet and savory by Brown’s Bakery, Bricktown Brewery, Café Evoke providing fabulous gourmet coffees, CocoFlow, Deep Fork Group, Iguana Mexican Grill, Jazmo’z Bourbon Street Café, Kaiser’s American Bistro, Kamp’s 1910 Café, La Luna Mexican Café, Matthew Kenney, Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse, Museum Café, Park Avenue Grill, Paseo Grill, Red Piano Bar, Red Primesteak, Stella’s Modern Italian Cuisine, The Melting Pot and Two Sisters Catering.

The Chocolate Decadence auction, which is a key part of the evening, features gifts that celebrate this romantic season.  One very lucky winner will walk away with a decadent bauble courtesy of Samuel Gordon Jewelers, the exclusive Chocolate Decadence jewelry sponsor.  Also on hand will be fabulous auction items including beautiful artwork, sports memorabilia and other tantalizing items you won’t want to miss!

Event sponsors include Funnel Design Group, SandRidge Energy, Inc., SSM of Oklahoma/St. Anthony, Samuel Gordon Jewelers, Precor Realty Advisors, +ImageNet Consulting, Evans & Davis Law Firm, Mercedes Benz of Oklahoma City, Mid-Town Renaissance, RCB Bank of Nichols Hills, 98.9 KISS FM, Accel Financial Staffing, The Journal Record, AT&T and Walker Companies. Tickets to Chocolate Decadence 2012 are $50 and may be purchased by phoning (405) 706-7484.  All tickets must be purchased in advance and guests must be 21 to attend.  Business attire requested. Any tickets purchased after January 26th will be held at the Will Call table at the event. For more information, e-mail chocolatedecadence2012@yahoo.com

Tickets are sold out. Thanks to everyone participating this year!

Oklahoma City National Memorial Marathon

 A Run to Remember - Sunday, May 1, 2011
As a tribute to the victims, family members and survivors of the bombing, Oklahoma City hosted the 11th Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon on May 1, 2011.  The idea to organize a marathon as a memorial to the bombing victims and survivors and as a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City National Memorial came to us early one morning during a training run. Since then, each year has brought growth and challenge. For the marathon to truly honor the memories of the lost and serve to inspire the living to greater accomplishment, no effort is spared in making this marathon the premiere running event in the nation. Whether this will be your first marathon, or one of many, whether you are a beginner or an elite athlete, this will be the best marathon you have ever experienced.

Oklahoma City is a Marathon City. The marathon is a wonderful analogy of the character of our people, the history of our trials and difficulties, and the way in which we have overcome and persevered. The Memorial Marathon provides an appropriate way for us to honor the victims and survivors, while at the same time celebrating the miracle of life. It is our hope that you will join people from all over Oklahoma, this nation and even the world in giving this gift to the victims’ families, the survivors, the Memorial, and our community.
The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is a Boston qualifying USATF-sanctioned event on a certified (OK-08019-DG) 26.2 mile single loop course.

Annual Automobile Alley Blood Drive

Our annual Automobile Alley Blood Drive was held on Thursday, June 16th, from 10:00 to 3:00 in the Oklahoma City Community Foundation parking lot located at 1000 N. Broadway Avenue in Oklahoma City.  Thanks to everyone who helped save lives this year!

Oklahoma Gazette's Halloween Parade

For several years, Automobile Alley hosted the annual “Ghouls Gone Wild” parade (now called the Gazette's Halloween Parade), with frightening window displays at 10th and Broadway, and record-breaking crowed. In the past, Oklahoma City's very own Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips led an amazing army of torch-bearing skeletons -- truly a sight to behold! Gazette’s Ghouls Gone Wild Halloween Parade was started to celebrate artistry, creativity and diversity in Oklahoma City. It has grown by leaps and bounds, increasing the number of participants, spectators and sponsors each year. Now called the Gazette’s Halloween Parade, the event has been recognized by the Creative Oklahoma organization as a “Great Inspiration” in recognition of its endeavors that set an example to stimulate creative thought and action in Oklahoma. The community rallies around the event and parade spectators dress up and sometimes even join in the parade! Merchants and restaurant owners along the parade route engage spectators before and after the parade with open houses and special events.  The parade has been featured on nearly all of the Oklahoma City metro television stations, as well as MTV, CNN and countless local, national and international web sites.
